Halim Flowers

Halim Flowers’ story is inseparable from the work. Incarcerated at 16 and released 22 years later, Flowers discovered Jean-Michel Basquiat while in prison and only began painting at 39. The self-taught artist describes the practice as “optical improvisation”, combining bold outlines, simplified figures, symbols and fragments of text. Flowers’ work is part of Champop Galerie’s permanent collection in Dubai.
